Lou Mee Wah is a household name in the Cantonese Opera circle. While schooling, she learnt portrait painting from Singapore's pioneer artist Mr Liu Kang. She began learning Cantonese Opera after leaving school when she met Joanna Wong some twenty years ago. Since then she started to learn assiduosly under Joanna who also arranegd Mr Yam Tai Fan, a renowed Cantonese Opera instructor from Hong Kong to teach her martial arts.

Lou Mee Wah In 1980 Luo Mee Wah won the National Youth Award (Culture) making her the first Cantonese Opera artist to be bestowed with this honour. In 1997 she was conferred the prestigious Cultural Medallion Award by the Singapore Government.

Lou Mee Wah is the Opera Instructor cum Leading Actor of Chinese Theatre Circle. A serious performer, she has an eye for details. She is strict with her teaching and sets high standards for her students as her philosophy is always to give the best to the audience.

An intelligent, industrious, and versatile artist, she is certainly the perfect match for Joanna Wong no matter front stage or back stage or performing in Singapore or overseas.

A full time artist with CTC, Lou Mee Wah is the only opera artist who has won both the National Youth Award and Cultural Medallion. She is the first and only, lead Opera actor outside China (PRC) to have performed Cantonese Opera in Beijing.
