PROGRAMME
  1. FLOODING OF JINSHAN MONASTERY
    (Cynthia Chow Chee Cheng as Madam White Snake, Sabrina Chow Mun Zhi as Green Snake, and ten children aged between three and thirteen, namely Kelvin Keung, Caren Keung, Claire Keung, Catherine Kwok, Kevin Kwok, Wang Haoyang, Wang Zhiying, Ashley Tan, Calvin Tan, and Elizabeth Tham as young monks)
    This is one of the highlights of the famous Chinese legend "Madam White Snake" in which Madam White Snake, in a moment of rage as her husband has been abducted by Fa Hai, Chief Abbot of the Jinshan Monastery in order to ruin their marriage, attacks the Jinshan Monastery against the advice of her companion Xiao Qing, the Green Snake.

  2. EMPEROR GUANG XU AND HIS PEARL CONCUBINE
    (Ang Cheng Hong as Emperor Guang Xu and Annie Wong as Zhen Fei)
    A romantic episode in the lives of Emperor Guang Xu and his favourite concubine Zhen Fei who is also known as "Pearl" concubine towards the latter part of the Qing Dynasty (AD 1644 - 1911). Guang Xu frets and fumes over the abominable behaviour of the Empress Dowager and the Chief Eunuch Li Lian Ying and others in the Imperial Court who show no respect for him. Zhen Fei consoles him, and asks him to wait for the appropriate moment to introduce his reforms.

  3. MATCHING EVIDENCE
    (Chan Mei Yin as Zuo Wei Ming and Leong Ah Lin as Yang Liu Jiao)
    Zuo Wei Ming, a magistrate, whilst conducting an investigation into a murder case, visits Yang Liu Jiao, a woman suspect, in her residence, hoping to recover an embroidered shoe, a piece of vital evidence. In a moment of excitement, Yang Liu Jiao shows Zuo Wei Ming the embroidered shoe whereupon Zuo Wei Ming took out a similar shoe and matched it with hers. The matching was perfect confirming Zuo Wei Ming's suspicion that Yang Liu Jiao was the culprit.

  4. ENCOUNTER WITH A GODDESS
    (Kwok Kwong Luen as Liu Yan Zang, Chan Suk Wah as Goddess of Hua Shan, Cynthia Chow Chee Cheng as Ling Zhi)
    On a moonlight night a poor scholar Liu Yan Zang is sleeping in the temple of the Goddess of Hua Shan after a day of traveling. Ling Zhi, the Goddess' maid wants to kill him for tarnishing the name of the Goddess in a poem he recited earlier. He explains that his poem is nothing but praises for the solemn beauty of the Goddess. The Goddess accepts his explanation as it is not unusual for scholars to recite poetry. Touched by the sincerity and innocence of the scholar, the Goddess falls in love with him. Liu Yan Zang too was moved by the attributes of the Goddess and expresses his admiration for her. At the break of dawn, they have to part her as commuters would soon be coming to the temple. Liu Yan Zang and the Goddess promise to meet again.

  5. STRANGE ENCOUNTER
    (Yee Lye Meng as Pei Yu and Mandy Chung Wai Leng as Lu Cao Rong)
    An excerpt taken from the famous opera "Reincarnation Of A Beauty" written by the great Hong Kong playwright the late Mr Tang Di Sheng. A distraught scholar Pei Yu happens to meet a young lass Lu Cao Rong who resembles the appearance of Li Hui Niang, the Prime Minister's favourite concubine whom he has fallen in love. Pei Yu claims acquaintance but is rejected by Lu Cao Rong who accuses him of trespass and threatens to report him to the authorities. A case of mistaken identity leading to an unusual romance.

  6. A MELANCHOLIC SEND-OFF FOR AN EMPEROR
    (Frances Wong Kum Yeng as Emperor Li Yu, See Too Hoi Siang as the Empress, leading a cast of upcoming artists comprising Kwok Kwong Luen, Chan Mei Leng, Lo Siu Ling, Mandy Chung, Ang Cheng Hong, Annie Wong, Soh Thim Chee, Raymond Yuan, Freda Ho Suit Leng, Ho Yin May, Ellen Li, and many others in this spectacular episode made popular by the most famous Cantonese Opera duo in Hong Kong the late Ms Yam Kim Fai and Ms Pak Suit Sin).
    The poet Emperor Li Yu (AD 937-978) of the State of Nan Tang (AD 937-975) is defeated by the Song Dynasty and is sent off by his officials and subjects to the Song Kingdom to become a captive. In a solemn and melancholic send-off, his Empress performs a sword dance to encourage him and his subjects pledge their loyalty to him and vouch that they would continue to gather resources to stage a comeback although in the meantime they would live in humiliation with the stigma of being the vanquished. A solemn but grand opera excerpt with a cast of more than twenty artists.
