The Festival features local celebrities Mrs Joanna Wong JP BBM and Miss Lou Mee Wah, both winners of Singapore's Cultural Medallion, Miss See Too Hoi Siang, winner of "The Outstanding Young Person In The World Award" for Cultural Achievement, and celebrities from Hong Kong Ms Ng Yim Hoong, and celebrities from China (PRC) Mr Ou Kai Ming and Miss Liang Shu Qing, both winners of China's most prestigious Plum Blossom Award. Music Composer cum Conductor is China's most sought after Cantonese Music Maestro Mr Bu Can Rong who will lead the Orchestra with his fabulous gaohu and his fascinating violin.

Music Maestro

A unique programme in this festival will be Joanna Wong's Golden Jubilee On Stage, featuring Joanna Wong, Cantonese opera doyenne, her disciples and students over the past 4 decades with guest artists Ou Kai Ming from Guangzhou and Ng Yim Hoong from Hong Kong. Singapore audience will be treated to a grand opening number and opera excerpts performed by Joanna's disciples and students. The final excerpt will be a brand new opera excerpt written by Cheung Chak Ming and directed by Guangzhou's Liang Jian Zhong.

The total number of participants hovers around 300 including the 70 strong Guangzhou Hong Dou Cantonese Opera Troupe from China (PRC) which will also act as the base troupe, foreign artists from Hong Kong, China (PRC), France as well as local artists and musicians from the Kreta Ayer Community Club and Tanjong Pagar Community Club and other groups.

22/05/2004 (Sat) Intrigues In The Qing Imperial Court This is a Chinese Opera Musical sung in English written by Leslie Wong. The first time produced in Singapore, it is a collaborative effort between CTC and the Guangzhou Hong Dou Cantonese Opera Troupe. Starring Joanna Wong, See Too Hoi Siang, Wong Kum Yeng, Dr Wong Kok Onn (PhD), Chan Mei Yin.
