| Synopsis
In the year AD 210 during the epoch of The Three Kingdoms when the States of Wei, Shu and Wu
were constantly vying for supremacy, Zhou Yu (right photo), the Commander-in-Chief of the Wu army
concocted a scheme to assassinate Liu Bei (photo below), king of the State of Shu,
by luring him to the State of Wu to marry the Princess Sun Shang Xiang.
Zhou Yu' plan backfired. Liu Bei's military advisor Kong Ming saw through Zhou Yu and
sent the invincible warrior Zhao Zi Long (right photo below) to escort Liu Bei to Wu.
With his crafty tongue, Liu Bei convinced the Empress Dowager to betroth the Princess to him.
Seeing that his scheme had failed, Zhou Yu asked Sun Quan, king of the State of Wu,
to place Liu Bei under house arrest and weaken his will.
Kong Ming sent Zhao Zi Long to the Palace and warned Liu Bei of his precarious situation.
Escorted by Zhou Zi Long, Liu Bei and the Princess at once left the Palace for home with Zhou Yu hot after their heels.
Kong Ming, however, arrived in time to save Liu Bei's party.
After a fierce battle with Zhou Yu's army, Zhao Zi Long boarded the boat with Liu Bei and
the Princess leaving Zhou Yu watching helplessly by the riverside. As a departing gesture,
Kong Ming erected a couplet on the boat which read as follows:
A clever Zhou Yu, a plan so unique
Yields a princess, an army so quick
Zhou Yu was so infuriated over his defeat by Kong Ming that he fell into an illness from his did not recover.
